IP03, Change of membership fee Resolution

IP – Change of membership fee (submitted by the outgoing EB)

The Federal Committee of JEF-Europe,

-    having regard to article 21 of the statutes and its financial responsibilities and taking into consideration its right of recommendation under article 13 of the statutes,

-    reminds of the continuity with regards to the amount of membership fee since at least 1999 (standing at 1,75 Euro / member / year),

Proposes to the Congress of JEF-Europe,

1.    Raising the membership fee to JEF-Europe from 1,75 Euro to X,XX Euro per member per year,

2.    Having the change to take effect for the 2008 fees (which are due in early 2009).

Justification

While general expenditure has risen, the revenue of JEF-Europe in forms of membership fees and support from the institutions has remained stagnant. As long as there remains to be a structural deficit and no means of revenue rise are proposed by the organisation, an increase of the membership fee remains as the last resort to bring JEF-Europe back on a sustainable funding.

The exact amount of new membership fee can be discussed by the FC or Congress and altered accordingly.
